4th Year Audiology Extern Job Description
We are currently interviewing for a 4th Year Audiology Extern for the 2013 – 2014 school year (August 2013 through June 2014).
Candidates for this externship need a special interest in pediatric audiology, aural habilitation, and working as part of our cochlear implant team.The Au.D. extern will have the opportunity to work with four pediatric educational audiologists. She would be mentored by Magnolia's Audiology Director, in hearing evaluations, hearing instrument fitting, cochlear implant mapping, auditory processing evaluations, and listening therapy. She would take on more responsibilities throughout her time here so that she will be well prepared to work independently in assessment and treatment of hearing loss. She will also collaborate with our multidisciplinary team including classroom teachers specializing in deaf education, special education, and dyslexia, as well as speech-language pathologists, early interventionists, auditory verbal and listening and spoken language (LSLS) certified specialists, and our occupational therapists. This externship experience will include the use of state of the art audiological equipment and expose her to audiological testing of multiply involved children with various neurological disorders such as autism, apraxia, dyslexia, and auditory processing disorders, in addition to hearing impaired infants and children of all ages with no other issues.
